BLUFFDALE — Police are looking for two men they say burglarized a Spring View Farms home early Saturday morning, stealing two large-screen televisions and two gun safes.

Police responded to the Bluffdale home about 5 a.m. where witnesses said a pair of men left with the TVs and two gun safes. One of the safes, weighing several hundred pounds, was placed on top of the getaway vehicle and fell off as the men drove away, police said.

The safe the men got away with contained several firearms, said Saratoga Springs Police Sgt. Edwin Christensen.

A family was asleep inside the home during the burglary. There was no contact between the men and the home's residents, Christensen said. The homeowner told KSL 5 News that he felt "very violated" by the events.

"I'm grateful the kids are OK and my wife is OK. I'm just glad I didn't have to do anything," said Scott Ransom.

Ransom said one of two safes taken in the robbery weighed an estimated 400 pounds. At least 10 guns were stolen, he said. "These are not things that should be out in the wrong hands. It's very alarming," he said. A security system was installed in the home later in the day Saturday.

"I've got the new alarm system, so it's wired up like Fort Knox now," Ransom said.

Witnesses told police the men were driving an older teal compact car with California license plates starting with the plate number "5V."

Police ask anyone with information on the burglary to call (801) 851-4100.
